About the show
Curator, writer, filmmaker, and educator Leah Kogen-Elimeliah presents Notes from Daughters, a multidisciplinary group exhibition bringing together 19 U.S.-based and international contemporary artists to explore one of the most formative and often complicated relationships in a woman's life: the relationship between fathers and daughters.
Through painting, sculpture, photography, multimedia, textile, film, poetry, and music, Notes from Daughters examines the ways fathers can shape daughters' understanding of their identity, sexuality, self-worth, belonging, memory, and love. At the heart of the exhibition are questions of inheritance: What do we inherit from our parents beyond the tangible? Which expectations, wounds, freedoms, fears, and forms of love are passed from one generation to the next, and what happens when we choose to break the pattern?

The exhibition invites audiences to reflect on questions such as:

— HOW DO WOMEN INHERIT LOVE, EXPECTATION, SHAME, FREEDOM, & BELONGING?
